The great outdoors

Situated along the shores of Lake Simcoe with bays, rivers, points, beaches, harbours and islands, there are no shortages of activities for water enthusiasts in the City of Barrie. There is a lot of opportunity for you to boat on your own terms in the Lake. Barrie also offers two marinas, a Yacht club, rowing club and canoeing club where you can congregate with like-minded individuals.

Outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds will enjoy that Barrie places importance on keeping green space and features 300 hectares of scenic parks. This is where you can enjoy a picnic, take a stroll or bike ride or simply relax on a bench and people watch. Each park offers its own amenities so be sure to check out the City of Barrie website for specifics.

In addition to the city parks, Barrie also offers several Conservation Areas and Springwater Provincial Park with Wasaga Beach and Bass Lake Provincial Parks just short drives away.

For golf enthusiasts, Barrie offers several public and private golf courses, including Barrie Country Club, Innisbrook Golf Course and Cedar Link Golf Centre and Vespra Hills (just outside of Barrie), to name just a few.

Though cottage country is just a short drive from Barrie, if you love summer outdoor activities then you don’t even have to leave home to enjoy a range of things from water sports to leisure activities.

I’ve been living and working in Barrie for more than 25 years so if you’re looking for more reasons why this is a great place to live, check out my other blog posts.
