Culture days in Barrie

Barrie is often known for its amazing beachfront property and its unique location between Toronto and Muskoka. I’ve often noted the amazing recreational activities that you can enjoy in this outdoorsy city, but that’s not all Barrie has to offer. It’s an eclectic city with something for everyone and the arts and culture scene is just as vibrant as any other activities that Barrie residents enjoy.

If you weren’t aware of this scene in Barrie, Culture Days happens annualy every September. This pan-Canadian volunteer movement aims to raise awareness, accessibility and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and culture life of their communities. Though this is a Canada-wide event, each region that participates will offer its own events and activities to allow patrons to participate in hands-on and behind-the-scenes activities in venues all across the city.

For instance, on the Saturday of the festival, the MacLaren Art Centre opened its doors so you could explore the hidden treasures of this heritage site. MacLaren Art Centre marries antiquity with modernity as a 1917 Carnegie library with a dynamic contemporary space. With multiple galleries, a café, a sculpture courtyard, gift shop and education centre, the centre has something for everyone.

Just another great reason to settle in Barrie! For more information about specific events that are happening around Barrie that weekend, visit www.culturedays.ca.  For more reasons why Barrie might be fit for you, contact me at 705-722-7100 or [email protected].
